Bio-IT World Conference & Expo
a Resounding Success
The Sixth Annual Bio-IT World Conference & Expo took place April 28-30, 2008 at the World Trade Center in Boston, Massachusetts, and was a resounding success.
Over 1,500 attendees from 23 countries participated during the course of the event. The event featured five concurrent tracks with over 100 technology and scientific presentations.
The keynote presentations delivered by John Reynders, Ph.D., CIO, Johnson & Johnson, Pharma R&D; Joshua Boger, Ph.D., founder, president and CEO, Vertex Pharmaceuticals; and Linda Avey, co-founder, 23andMe drew rave reviews with many remarking that the event was an excellent learning experience.

field of "personal genomics" proved to be a highlight of the
conference. Bio-IT World's Editor-in-Chief, Kevin Davies Ph.D., moderated the
discussion which featured six of the most outstanding scientists, physicians and

Best of Show Awards winners at a ceremony held during the event. The winning products included Isilon’s X-Series clustered storage systems, Medidata Solutions’ Medidata Designer, IO Informatics’ Sentient Suite, and Linguamatics’ I2E 3.0.

Bio-IT World’s Best Practices Awards ceremony took place April 29, 2008 and was co-located with the event. Key industry leaders attended the ceremony, which featured keynote speeches by Colin Hill, CEO, president, chairman & co-founder of Gene Network Sciences; and Dietrich Stephan, Ph.D., co-founder and chief science officer of Navigenics, former deputy director, Translational Genomics Research Institute. Grand Prize winners within seven life sciences awards categories included Applied Biosystems, Christian-Albrechts-University, Eli Lilly & Company, GlaxoSmithKline, Genstruct, Sirtris Pharmaceuticals, AstraZeneca, and Merck & Company.
